Fast Charging Infrastructure with EVBox Troniq Modular in Preparation for Zero Emission Zones in The City of Amsterdam

Two EVBox Troniq Modular charging stations were installed in Amsterdam near the Ziggo Dome and the Johan Cruijff ArenA, supporting the city's ambitious electrification goals. Amsterdam’s fast charging infrastructure expansion makes electric vehicle charging more accessible for heavy and light vehicles, further contributing to the ambitions for a cleaner urban traffic. The charging stations began operations on January 11, 2023.

AMSTERDAM, January 26, 2023  — EVBox, a leading EV charging solutions provider, is supporting the City of Amsterdam, with the expansion of fast charging infrastructure in the Bijlmermeer neighbourhood, contributing to the 2030 zero emission plans for the city. The area is home of the Ziggo Dome and the Johan Cruijff ArenA, two of the main events and entertainment venues in the city. The area is located near the current border of Amsterdam’s Low Emission Zone and the future border of Amsterdam's Zero Emission Zone for vans and trucks, to be introduced in 2025. This project will facilitate the electrification of heavy transportation that supplies the city.

Two units of EVBox Troniq Modular began operations on January 11, 2023 and are available for public charging. The setup of the installations also allows for larger vehicles that do not fit in the regular parking spaces, making it suitable for vans and trucks. Each of the fast charging solution can deliver up to 120 kW power and allows two vehicles to charge simultaneously.

Tighter Low Emission Targets in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a fast-growing city, and hub to many international companies in the country. The City of Amsterdam is making its growth more sustainable, in line with targets set both in the Netherlands and in Europe for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions for example. Just as in about 40 other Dutch cities where the zero emission zone will be introduced, the City of Amsterdam will further tighten its low emission zone for city logistics from 2025 onwards. The initiative increases the demand for electric vehicle infrastructure, especially for heavy vehicles. By the end of 2030, the City of Amsterdam aims to be a completely emission-free city, with cleaner air and less noise.

We are happy to work with the City of Amsterdam to make the city greener and contribute positively to their 2030 ambitions. Having EVBox Troniq Modular in such a booming area of Amsterdam, our hometown, makes this installation a personally important one for us. As a company based in Amsterdam, the heart of electric mobility, we hope that we can set an example to other cities around Europe and the world. Daniël Geerts (VP Commercial Support at EVBox)
