Scania, EVBox, and ENGIE join forces to accelerate the development of electric bus and truck transport solutions in Europe

EVBox and ENGIE have signed a partnership for four years with Scania, a world-leading provider of transport solutions, to set an example for the transport industry and its environmental responsibilities.

Amsterdam, November 12, 2020—Scania recently announced that it will begin bringing new electrified vehicles to the market on an annual basis in the coming years to accelerate the shift toward eMobility. Electrification is a very important part of Scania's ambition to decarbonize transport, which is why the company is establishing a global partnership with ENGIE and EVBox.

This unprecedented cooperation will focus on both trucks and buses applications, and provide complete charging solutions to Scania’s customers. The solutions will be tailored to real fleet and depot management needs, electrified heavy vehicles, smart charging infrastructure, service and maintenance, green energy supply, as well as financing.

Providing the full package for a seamless transition to eMobility

To support its customers throughout the entire electrification process, Scania will not only offer electric vehicles but also electric charging solutions. EVBox is providing Scania with intelligent and scalable high-power charging solutions tailored to the needs of its customers. Additionally, Scania will offer field services and training sessions for its drivers as part of its standard portfolio.

ENGIE will design, offer, install, and maintain the electric charging solutions and related services for Scania customers across a variety of key regions.

A shared ambition for sustainable transport solutions in Europe

Scania, EVBox, and ENGIE share the same goal of accelerating the transition to a carbon-neutral economy through reduced energy consumption and more environmentally-friendly solutions.

The partnership between the three companies will begin with operations in 13 European countries that will be extended to other regions from the end of 2021. ENGIE and EVBox will be working together with trusted regional partners such as Caverion and Alpiq.

The electrification of transport is one of the key initiatives for reducing emissions—especially since transport represents almost a quarter of Europe’s greenhouse gas emissions. This partnership poses new opportunities for EVBox, and with over 10 years of experience, we’re confident that our expertise and competitive offering will support Scania in achieving its business and sustainability goals. Kristof Vereenooghe (CEO of EVBox)

Scania and ENGIE share the same goal of establishing sustainable transport solutions. This unique European partnership specific to electric buses and trucks is the result of a mutual trust developed through our historical collaboration on gas mobility. We are proud to join forces for this new electric truck segment offering that will positively impact urban and peri-urban use cases. ENGIE will be glad to design, offer, install and maintain leading charging solutions and related services to Scania customers, who will benefit from Scania’s European network of qualified technicians and its partners’ regional networks. Shankar Krishnamoorthy  (Executive Vice President of ENGIE Group)

A complete charging solution encompasses energy supply, charging hardware and software as well as installation, maintenance and other related services adapted to each customer's specific needs. This strong partnership with ENGIE and EVBox will simplify the transition by our customers to an increasingly electrified fleet on the journey towards more sustainable transport.
