EVBox moves into new global headquarters in Amsterdam

EVBox will move into its new global headquarters in Amsterdam West, while also introducing a new working from home policy as a result of increased productivity during the coronavirus pandemic.

Amsterdam, July 7, 2020—EVBox, the leading provider of smart and scalable charging solutions for electric vehicles around the world, was founded in the Netherlands in 2010 and has since grown into a team of more than 500 employees across 13 offices in Europe and North America. EVBox will begin moving employees into its new headquarters over the coming weeks.

The building is situated only a few minutes from Amsterdam Sloterdijk station and has been completely renovated. It is now equipped with new heating and cooling systems, as well as new ventilation and solar panels. The furnishing includes second-life desks, and each floor is inspired by environmental themes that include water, earth, and sun.

The EVBox headquarters will allow for better collaboration between teams thanks to new meeting rooms, working spots, and customer experience areas. These customer experience areas will allow visitors to become fully immersed in EVBox’s efforts to establish a more sustainable future, while also demonstrating the company’s newest EV charging technologies.

Returning to the office in at the start of a “new normal”

Over the last four months, EVBox employees from around the world have been working from home due to the coronavirus outbreak. This will remain the norm until the end of September 2020—but employees who prefer to come to the office will be able to book their spot upon approval from mid-July—in consultation with their managers.

EVBox will ensure that hygienic masks are provided for everyone, as well as a cleaning kit and table mat for each workspace. Hand sanitizers will also be present at every corner, and there will be 1.5 m of space between each bookable workplace. EVBox’s office management will be in constant dialogue with the building owners to work on optimized cleaning schedules and to make further improvements in the coming months.

EVBox introduces new WFH policy

The last few months have required everyone to adjust to a new reality, and EVBox has been able to gather some insights from this unusual working situation. EVBoxers showed that working from home resulted in increased productivity across the board.

An internal survey shows that 52 percent of EVBoxers are more productive than in the office, with 30 percent of employees experiencing the same productivity level no matter the location. Furthermore, 60 percent of employees reported that their work-life balance improved during this period.

These results have prompted EVBox to introduce a new WFH policy for all employees across the globe. The new headquarters will not be seen as a daily office environment, but rather a collaboration hub.

EVBoxers will be able to arrange their working week depending on their role—starting from one or two days (but not limited) per week working from home. For the remaining days, they can book a spot in the office beforehand to ensure that the total office capacity allows for social distancing regulations to be adhered to. Employees are advised to set up an ergonomic working space in their homes, with EVBox compensating expenses for chairs, screens, and other required equipment.

EVBox is turning 10

2020 marks EVBox’s 10th birthday, and moving into a new headquarters will certainly help with celebrating a decade of excellence and innovation. An official public opening and celebration is planned for September—though the format of the event will be subject to regulations and developments regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

We welcomed 350 new EVBoxers in 2019 alone, and our team will continue to grow in the coming years. Moving to a new headquarters in Amsterdam and promoting new ways of working—including an extensive WFH policy—will help us to nurture a culture of innovation, continue motivating our employees, and boost overall productivity. I’m proud to see that even in times of crisis, our employees at EVBox have proved, yet again, to be passionate and reliable, and have shown that they will never stop pushing to help EVBox realize a more sustainable future.
